The empty space is part of the file. Keep it when exporting.
Both files share a canvas, so the eyes land exactly on the face.
IN YOUR ART APP
Export the canvas, not the cutout.
- Set up a 2048 × 2048 document.
Put your base on a locked layer. Keep its position, scale and pose fixed. Use a transparent background if you want backgrounds to show behind the character.
- Draw variants on separate layers.
Make a folder per category: Expression, Outfit, Headwear. Place every variant where it should appear over the base. Hide the base and all other variants before exporting a trait.
- Export each full square as PNG.
Keep transparency on. Turn off “trim transparent pixels”, “crop to content” or similar export options. Each file must remain square and under 8 MB. Smaller square canvases are resized by the studio; using the same 2048px canvas avoids that rescaling.

2048 × 2048, with the expression in position and transparent padding intact.
A tight rectangle around the eyes loses their position. Making that crop square later still changes the scale and alignment.
TRY THE INCLUDED KIT
Six files. Six combinations.
Unzip the practice kit. In a project, upload base.png as your original artwork, review it, and lock it. Set a supply of six when creating this practice project. Then add these two categories:

The locked base sits at order 10. Higher numbers paint in front. Select all PNGs in each category folder; the studio fills their names from filenames. Review names and weights, then upload the queue.
With no exclusions, 2 outfits × 3 expressions make 6 unique combinations. At a supply of six, every combination appears once; changing weights cannot make a seventh unique token. For rarity experiments, use a smaller supply or try the free planner.
BEFORE YOU RENDER
Check the joins.
- Click each trait thumbnail in the studio’s live preview. Look for drifting eyes, clipped edges, or gaps between clothing and the body.
- If a background disappears, the base may be opaque. Review transparency before locking your base.
- Forbid pairs that collide, such as a tall hat with an overlapping accessory. The preview flags forbidden selections immediately; feasibility checks the entire collection.
- Save all weight edits, check feasibility, then render a preview. Open a token to inspect the full resolution PNG and its saved traits before rendering the complete collection.
An optional AI base does not create aligned trait layers. You still prepare those overlays against your final locked base.
